I'm Mackenzie. I primarily make soft text-based work from reclaimed materials. I repurpose words and phrases from various sources - film, literature, people in my life - and pair them with the familiar comforts of tattered bedsheets and worn pillowcases, printed and embroidered florals, which bring a history all their own to each construction. I am currently based in Los Angeles, California, but have called the Pacific Northwest my home for most of my life. In addition to my love for sewing and object-making, I love yoga, getting outside, and my cat, Charles Bronson, Jr. Jr.

-Tennessee Williams

“To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be happy one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness.”
-Woody Allen
